The Ashes
Just thought I'd mention that the Ashes has begun. England managed to recover from a poor start to salvage a draw in emphatic style.
They ended on 517-1 with Straus getting 110, Trott on 135 and Cook on 235 breaking a fair few records in the process.

Re: The Ashes
4 more matches just like that to come. Flat pitches, average bowlers, not much chance of either team taking 20 wickets.
At least if the series ends 0-0 we keep the Ashes.

Re: The Ashes
Excellent first day for England. Couldn't believe what I was seeing at 2-3.
245 all out, now let's pile on some runs. Well bowled Jimmy Anderson (you six-fingered Dingle cunt ).

Alastair Cook - Legend in the making. Must have borrowed a pair of Samir Nasri's lucky pants.

Obviously a shit pitch for bowlers, even Pietersen kept going past 80 for a change.

Declare now and go for the win. The forecast isn't looking too good though.

Re: The Ashes
Legendary cricket enemies Sir Ian Botham and Ian Chappell had to be pulled apart after a furious bust-up in the car park after the end of play on the fourth day in the Adelaide Test.
The England and Australia icons have a feud going back more than 30 years and squared up before their Sky and Channel 9 colleagues intervened.

Re: The Ashes
Aye. Tremlett, Shahzad and Bresnan looked the business against Australia A, but one wicket between them against Victoria is a poor show.
Off to Perth now, where the wicket is traditionally quite lively. The locals reckon we're looking at a similar pitch to the first Test at Brisbane, though. Just wonder whether the Aussies are expecting the pitch to turn because they've got Smith and Beer in the squad, and there's no way Smith is in as a batsman. But they've hedged their bets with Johnson back in the fold and Harris (quickest bowler on either side) passed fit.
I suppose even if it does spin it doesn't do us any good because Monty is still a poor excuse for a Test spinner.
Little bit worried about Cook, too. Bang in form until now, then couldn't buy a run in this game. Time will tell.

Who needs him? We've got Super KP. Oh, and that Swann guy is ok too.

Re: The Ashes
Got to laugh at KP's opinion of his own bowling. Gets a wicket and jokes about being an all-rounder, calms down a bit and says he's a "pie chucker".
Might as well mark Collingwood down as our strike bowler if Pietersen's a spinner.
