PS3 Vs Xbox 360

This has been a topic of interest in the chatbox in the past but there's never been a topic on here about it (as far as I know).

I've always been inbetween the two. I had a PS back in 1995, then I had a PS2, then I bought an Xbox, then I moved onto 360 after that, and always liked the machine, but I've just today bought a PS3, mainly because I didn't wanna fork out £100 for a Blu-ray player, so I thought I may as well get a PS3 for the extra £130 and spend some time playing Fifa 10 until Fifa 11 comes out and then sell the thing on Ebay when I get bored.

This arguement will ramble on but opinions aside there really is no contest. XBOX has better games, better controller and much better for online gaming, so as a games console it wins hands down.

The only real selling point of the PS3 is the blu-ray player, which merely masks the fact that it is an inferior games console. If it didn't have the blu-ray player it would be a huge piece of turd, and as som many people downlaod films anyway it is near enough a piece of turd.

I think there are definitely going to be people firmly on one side or the other but impartially it's a toss up between the two. The PS3 is definitely the better piece of hardware due to the fact that it is more recent, so it has more potential than the 360 which is more or less at the peak of what the developers can squeeze out of it. However, the 360 does seem to have better exclusives than the PS3. The PS3 will probably edge in front in the future as developers expand on what they can do with it, but I have a 360 and I don't see the point in shelling out for something that more or less does the same thing.

It will be interesting to see how the motion controllers will fare for both these two and whether it will see them make the move to more crappy casual games.

360 wins hands down for the reasons already mentioned.

I had the PS one, then the PS2(which I still have in a corner in its box) and then I moved on to the Xbox.

The main flaw with the Xbox is however, the reliability. I have had the RRoD twice, so in total have purchased 4 Xbox's.

However, I successfully managed to fix the RRoD on one of the broken ones, and will have a crack at the other one soon...

I've had the RRoD only once and so I never played the game I was playing again. It's not happened since. Also, they've sorted it now with the new version.

The new one is well ventilated so it doesn't have the same problems as the old one, which was the overheating of the GPU and CPU. It takes a bit of fiddling about and scrubbing etc. but it can be done in under an hour if you have the right kit.

I have neither. The last PS/Xbox I had was a PS2, which I still have. Haven't played it for ages, though.

Xbox have brought out the Jericho system ( i think that's what it is called) so the problems of old are just that and the memory is that of a room full of scorned women!!

No matter how good your broadband connection is, you cannot play Fifa or Pro Evo online on the Xbox without MAJOR glitches throughout. You're at one end of the pitch about to score and then all of a sudden your opposing player has the ball and is playing a cross into his man. It's fucking shit for football games. Not sure about CoD and all that other crap these kids play, but for football games the 360 has wank online play. It relies too much on the other player's connection, which the PS3 doesn't. Not to mention Microsoft charge you to use their wank service and Sony don't.

As for MORE games, then yeah, the Xbox has that, but who cares when most of the games are shit? The PS3 has superior graphics (in most cases), superior speed and a Blu-ray player, which is a HUGE plus, no matter how you look at it. Xbox have just released their new 'slim' version, which is at least £80 more, and STILL doesn't have a Blu-ray player.

You can get HD films on Zune via Xbox Live.

...so...the Xbox One...what a load of xbollox, if ever you needed proof that Americans believe that there is no electricity beyond their borders this is it. Specifically aimed at the US market, promises of live NFL, deals in place with cable providers in the US etc. What about the rest of the world, I cant see sky agreeing to provide services to xbox.

Then there is the used games, apparently when you buy a game you have to install the whole game on the HDD with an activation code, if you sell this game on the person buying it will have to pay a fee to deactivate the old code on the other persons system and to reactivate it on their Xboxes, god knows what happens when there are 2 or 3 people with different accounts on a single xbox, they would have to pay an activation fee for each user. Don't think you can take your FIFA game over to your friends house to play anymore.

Then theres the big brother issue, the Kinect camera has to always be on, not sure why but it just has to....theres plenty more things that have annoyed me but don't have time to go through a whole list.
