Did A Quiz Last Night

I've taken over organising it. I did a music round on cover versions and I stuck one in of William Shatner, yes Captain Kirk, doing a version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Got to be one of the worst cover versions of all time.

Anyway amazingly one of the teams got it.

I also stuck All Along The Watchtower in there but not by Hendrix.

Nope, but the performer in question also appeared at Woodstock with Hendrix.

Neil Young and the Grateful Dead both appeared at Woodstock and covered All Along The Watchtower, which was originally written by Bob Dylan.

Hendrix' version still rules all, though. In fact, Hendrix just rules.

Should have took it easy on the red wine though.

All of this is true. The song was on the John Wesley Harding album but the version I played last night was by Richie Havens.

Damn it. This is why I don't do quizzes. I'm right but I'm still not right enough. Maybe it would have helped if I'd heard it, but such is life.

Richie Havens has a pretty distinctive voice so if you're familiar with him there's a fair chance you would have got it. Had to search far and wide for William Shatner doing Lucy In Th.e Sky With Diamonds though.
